Angry customizable armour

Hey all, i was thinkin when i watched that guild wars nightfall CE "making of" DVD, and when she was changing the armours, and i thought why couldnt we do that? If they set restrictions on how much we can mod it, we can really make the armour our own.

i don't know the programming problems but i'd like to be able to do this and i think it'd be a nice edition
when you buy the armour a little window could come up and we could tweak it with a mini tool set sorta thing heh

please give CONSTRUCTIVE criticism

Sure!
And then we could paint pictures on MS Paint and put it on the shoulder pads! And then we could make our own designs for our capes! And then we could look like little blocks!

<_< That's why we don't have it. Little blocks.. It would look 100x better with the normal armor. And ANet can't deliver whatever system they use to EVERYONE who logs on guildwars.

Its a good idea, but the reality of it is not good. Sure you could get design pro's who make amazing looking armour, but then you would get alot of immature people who can't use a mouse to save themselves, let alone make their armour look good. It would take away the games serious appearance, and make it look like a kids game, played by kids. Great idea though, just not really do-able

It's not so simple.

You'll also suddenly cause a huge jump in bandwidth and everybody's custom design armor needs to be downloaded. So, let's say we have 100 characters in a town, that's 100 times 5 (armor piece) additional images to download for everyone there.

You'll also need to hire new game moderators to keep an eye on the type of custom design produced, to prevent abuse, profanity and pornography....

i think the OP meant an in game control, like to adjust angles/planes, maybe with a slider switch far left = pointy far right = rounded or something like that.
Just additional customizations not user edit type stuff.

Cool idea...

One question though; How would dye react to a personalised armor design?

The armor at the minute has set parts which change when dye is applied to it. If we personalised the designs, those bits would be lost. The dye system could become messed up.

And if it did still work, and you applied dye to customised armor, it might look very very very bad. Which brings me onto the next question...

Would this customising be one-off or changable?

Imagine youve doubt 15k armor, and spent months saving. You buy it and it asks "do you wish to customise the design?", you accept and change something.

Later on you think "thats a bit naff" and wish you hadnt. Are you stuffed or can you change it again.

Personally I wouldnt want people able to customise armor more then once. Because if you can do it when ever you wish, then in essence you wont need to buy new armor.

And those who are good at design, could manipulate the design enough to look like other armor.

I think it would detract from making people buy new stuff and it could result in copying.
